A 300kW AC grid-tie cabinet (also known as a grid connection cabinet or AC distribution cabinet) is a critical power interface device in commercial and industrial photovoltaic (PV) systems. Its primary role is to aggregate the AC output from multiple solar inverters and safely synchronize it with the low-voltage utility grid or a step-up transformer. Unlike a standard distribution board, a grid-tie cabinet is purpose-built to meet utility company requirements for parallel generation, ensuring both power quality and personnel safety.

Inside the enclosure, three-phase copper busbars collect inverter outputs and route them through a main moulded case circuit breaker (MCCB) or an AC contactor. The cabinet's metallic enclosure is rated IP41 or higher for indoor use, with ventilation fans to dissipate heat from the main breaker and busbars. Common configurations include wall-mounted units for smaller systems or free-standing floor cabinets for 300kW capacity. All components are coordinated to withstand fault currents typical of utility-parallel operation—typically 25kA or 50kA at 400V/480V AC.
