1600 kVA Oil-immersed power transformer
Working Principle of oil-immersed Transformer
An oil-immersed transformer works based on the principle of electromagnetic induction and uses transformer oil for insulation and cooling.

Basic principle
When alternating current (AC) passes through the primary winding, it creates a changing magnetic field in the iron core. This magnetic field induces an alternating electromotive force in the secondary winding.
By changing the turns ratio of the two windings, the transformer can step up or step down voltage without changing the frequency.
Role of transformer oil
Insulation: It provides high dielectric strength between windings, core and tank, preventing electrical breakdown.
Cooling: It absorbs heat generated by losses in the windings and core, then transfers it to the radiator or tank surface to be released into the air.
Summary
Oil-immersed transformers transfer electrical energy between circuits via mutual induction, while transformer oil ensures safe, stable and long-term operation.
